JAZZ COMPANY 2012 Graduate show tour Congratulations Katie on a wonderfully designed show! Katie Langrick, a good friend and costume colleague of Hayley's has been skillfully designing the eight-number touring show for the London based Jazz Company 2012 graduate class. Encompasing over forty dancers in eight numbers, the costumes Katie creatively designed span from the 1950s boudoir to a Sci-Fi tap-number by clones. Hayley had the pleasure of helping Katie with the costume making and watching the show take shape. The tour starts May 23rd and culminates with a show in London at the Peacock theatre on the 10th of July. |

Shooting 2011 with Hayley as Costume designer, the website has just launched for 1960s-80s drama feature film The Wee Man and early pre-production is underway. This is a story based on the real life of an ordinary young boy from decent hardworking parents, brought up in the notorious area of Black Hill, Glasgow and his journey through his teenage years to manhood. The story is set in the sixties, Paul Ferris, an 11-year-old boy, already has learned that life on the street is tough. Everybody knows his place. Poverty breeds corruption, crime, violence and bullying. Black Hill was top of the list. Paul had to witness drunken men fighting on the streets, a corrupt police force, which dealt with the violence with their own kind of violence. Young Paul wonders why no one dares to ask questions? Paul’s father instills in him: know nothing, say nothing, do nothing, and you can survive. A wonderfully rich drama illustrating the battle between personal morality, nature and social environment. Hayley will begin working on the film in coming months in 2011. . | |

DUAL (formerly Ouroboros) Dual is a split-screen short film which takes place whilst London, and specifically its financial institutions, are trapped in the throes of terrorist attacks. The top half of the screen focuses on a Bomb Disposal Technician seemingly disarming a bomb, whilst in the bottom half the woman we assume to be his wife gives birth in the cafeteria of the financial institution where she works; her only aid is a nervous workman - a man who could in some way be responsible for the attacks that have shook the capital. The two halves are intertwined, contrasting and complimenting each other in character, plot, themes and visual style – each will aid us in taking our audience on a journey that twists and turns. A LONELY PLACE TO DIEA
Film by Julian Gilbey Formerly
titled "The Grave at Angel's Peak", this electric action
film completed shooting in August 2010, following a great shoot in the
Scottish Highlands last summer. A new
mini 'making-of' for the film can now be see online by clicking here. The
film now has a new poster released (above) and looks to be the best film
yet from the award-winning writer/Director Gilbey Brothers - Julian
(Director of Rise of the Footsoldier and Rolling' with the
nines) and William (writer for ROTFS and writer/ Director of
the award-winning short, Fathers' Day). The
Scottish highlands on the north coast by Inverness and the panoramic
mountain on Ben Nevis form the back-drop for this fast-paced action/
drama, starring Melissa George (Turistas, 30 Days of Night, Amityville
Horror, Triangle), Ed Speelers (Eragon), Karel Roden
(Hellboy, Orphan, The Bourne Supremacy), Sean Harris (Harry
Brown, Brighton Rock), Alec Newman (Star Trek: Deep Space
Nine), Kate Magowan(Star Dust), Eamonn Walker (Lord of War,
ER, Kings), Stephen McCole, Paul Anderson, and Garry
Sweeney. The
story follows a group of five mountaineers are hiking and climbing in the
Scottish Highlands when they discover a young Serbian girl buried in a
small chamber in the wilderness. They become caught up in a terrifying
game of cat and mouse with the kidnappers. Wanting
the film to accurately reflect the exciting and lifestyle brand heavy
world of rock climbers and mountaineers, Hayley Nebauer took a rock
climbing course to further her understanding of the characters and
equipment required for the film. Finding it exhillerating, Hayley took a
further course and began rock-climbing 2-3 times a week as well as hiking
weekends, for several months as preparation for the film. This led to an
accurate understanding of how rock climbers view not just the practical
and aesthetic aspects of their clothing and equipment, but the personal
views and character choices of real climbers towards brands and colours.
Extensive
research also went into other aspects of the film, including costume
research and heavy construction for a Beltane Fire festival (Ancient,
Pagan, Gaelic Spring festival). The
shoot went very well in the highlands, capturing some great performances
from the cast and a very memorable time being had by all. Over six months
on from starting, Hayley still goes rock climbing weekly and can now climb
a sport grade 6A wall! (Photograph

MAGIC BOYSIn
August-September 2010, the final scenes were filmed for this entertaining
comedy/drama, shot in the UK and Hungary. Hayley returned to Budapest with
cast Michael Madsen, Vinnie Jones, Jamelia, Nikki Barabas to join the
Hungarian cast in filming final key scenes. The shoot went very well,
with some more comedy genius to edit into the mix, from Hunagrian Director
and legend Robert Kolai.
This
is one of Hayley's most stylized recent productions, many costumes were
purpose designed and made for the film, incorporating some very wild and
fun drag, strip and fetish costumes! Prepare yourself for some interesting
use of colour and monochromatic combinations throughout, incorporating a
lot of sequins and Czillam (Hungarian for glitter)!
A
release date will soon be announced for 2011.

BONDED BY BLOODDirector
of the film Tu£sday, Sasha Bennet's latest
film Bonded by Blood, is another look at the
infamous British story of the Essex Gangsters involved in the 1995 tripled
homicide, 'The Range-rover murders'. Based on the same true life-story as
Rise of the Footsoldier
(based from
the perspective and life of Carlton leach, also with Hayley Nebauer as
Costume Designer), Bonded by Blood is based
on the book of the same title, from author Bernard O'Mahoney. Although
many comparisons are made between the two films, both tackle the material
from different angles. Sasha Bennett's aim was to tell the story with a
more Hollywood-like glamourisation of the characters, also adding some
humour to the tale.
In
designing the costumes for this film, Hayley sought to maintain a
monochromatic and steely colour palette, focussing on a
balance between painting the characters attributes relative to the
contemporary audiences' perspectve, than focussing purely on the accuracy
to the period (1992-96).
Bonded
by Blood
was released nationally in cinemas in the UK on September 3, 2010 and will
be released on DVD in coming months, date TBC.

THE GRAVE AT ANGEL'S PEAKPreparing
to start shooting mid 2010,
A party of five mountaineers are hiking and climbing
in the Scottish Highlands. On the second day of their trek one of them
hears a noise: muffled cries for help from an air-pipe sticking out of the
ground. They start digging and soon discover an eight year old Russian

dehydrated and unable to speak a word of English.

MAGIC BOYSFilmed
throughout Hungary, Magic Boys is a fun comedy about two hapless Hungarian factory workers, David and
Zoli, who after involuntarily witnessing a cold-blooded murder, have
the brilliant idea of disguising themselves as male strippers to
escape to London, only to discover that they've landed themselves right in
the lion's den.
A series of mad-cap adventures sees them get in to all
sorts of trouble including car-jacking rickshaws, while working
for eccentric gangster Terence (Michael Madsen) who is in the process
of smuggling millions of dollars into the UK with the help of a mysterious
stewardess, Cherry Valentine (Pop star Jamelia). Terence's old enemy and
former associate, Jack Varga (Vinnie Jones), also joins in for a slice of
the action.
With women
screaming for the two rhythmless, clueless masquerading strippers and
tearing their clothes off and the real two strippers trying desperately to
get their jobs back, David and Zoli manage to unfold the mess, develop
some fans and find love, while putting in a routine or two in
Drag.
This is one of Hayley's most stylized recent
productions, many costumes were purpose designed and made for the
film, incorporating some very wild and fun drag costumes and a very
interesting use of colour and monochromatic combinations throughout.
Prepare yourself for the onslaught of sequins and bling, or as the
Hungarians call is - Czillam! (glitter)
